FAQ
Q: TrayDevil does not minimise a particular window.
A: Some programs are written in programming languages which display exceptional window behaviour. For some of these exceptions TrayDevil could already be tuned, but there are still some for which a solution needs to be found. Please submit the program titles to the author.
Q: Windows has to recover the Desktop as if it has suffered an improper shutdown or crash.
A: The TrayDevil Shutdown/Restart routines are strongly forced in order to prevent hanging. This causes all open programs to shutdown even if there is unsaved data. To prevent errors, it is strongly advised that all programs are closed before commencing a Restart or Shutdown.
Q: TrayDevil does not warn if hotkeys are in use by other applications.
A: TrayDevil has its own, self-made hotkey-management and does not look at other globally defined hotkeys. All defined TrayDevil-hotkeys will always work and it's up to you if you want a double function for a hotkey...
Q: After a Windows explorer crash most of the tray icons are gone; how can I recover the windows of the minimized applications?
A: Define a hotkey to Restore the windows in the Hotkey section; it will restore all applications which were minimized by TrayDevil.
Q: After update 1.4.3 the minimize to tray function does not work any more.
A: You probably only use the min button for tray minimization. A problem fixed in 1.4.3 was strange behaviour after clicking the minimize button, so that button was excluded from the min-to-tray click action area. You can still click the rest of the titlebar for window to tray minimization.
Q: How do I setup Hotkeys?
A: When you're in the Hotkey setup window, you can type the desired hotkey (eg. Ctrl+Shift+S, Alt+B, etc.) like you would when using the hotkey and the hotkey-field will show the chosen Hotkey (if valid). You have to finish the complete hotkey before the program will show it.
Now you can assign the Hotkey to a function by clicking the appropriate Set button. You can cancel the Hotkey with the Clear button.
